Join in the journey; wherever, whenever!

Hello all!

It’s been a while since I’ve updated this blog, so I thought I’d share some things that are happening.

You can find me on Instagram posting to my personal and professional accounts, as well as patreon.com/ohmrva where I am working on building a free music lesson archive! I also share lots of personal videos (glimpses into my ordinary days, thoughts of philosophical nature, and other tidbits of information you may or may not care about) as well as some select poems and art projects that I am always surprisingly getting entangled in.

I tried Tiktok for a while, and will still continue to update it as I become more familiar with all of its capabilities! It’s quite an overwhelming app for me!

The idea is to try to move myself away from my own performative nature. I am a singer. I am a performer. But as a teacher, I realize this was a big problem for me. I am using these other social media platforms to divest my creative energy into so that I will not rob my students of their own personal lesson time creativity. I want to do everything I can to foster and nurture natural and healthy creative spaces for myself and all of my students.

I’ve had a great time returning back to teaching this month, and I’m very proud of all of my students for continuing these lessons in the midst of such grave circumstances everyday. I am continually counting my blessings, being grateful for my health, my own privilege, and remaining hopeful and positive whenever I can.

There are still dreams to establish a physical storefront for my music lessons space and my partner and I’s vinyl record store, Hang Around. We’ve got big dreams, lemme tell you! I am praying and vibing for the universe to send us a space here in Richmond, VA where we can accommodate our huge dreams and have the space to share and grow them with you all! We are hopeful in establishing a cooperative type business structure to combat the gross inequity of our capitalistic status quo. The time is now for change!

Thank you for being here and knowing me. I hope to know you more, too!

Sincerely,

JD Thomas
