*New* Online Lessons!
Hi Everyone!
We are indeed experiencing strange times, and strange times call for adaptation.
I'm happy to announce that I will now be offering a contact-free lesson option starting today!
Now you can schedule and complete a music lesson entirely online! It’s easy! Just visit my website at www.ohmrva.com/contact and click on the option for *New* Online Lessons, select your time zone, select your day and time, and then fill our the “New Student Form for Online Lessons”.
You can choose between these 4 streaming platforms:
1. Google Hangouts
2. Facetime
3. Skype
4. Facebook video
5. Zoom
After filling out the online form, and checking the Terms and Conditions, you can pay online with your credit/debit card, or using Paypal! (Online lessons must be pre-paid in full to keep scheduled appointment time.)
Since there is always a possibility of technical issues when it comes to navigating online lessons, I am always willing to work with a student and their particular resources. However, to ensure a productive lesson experience, please check that your WiFi connection is strong enough to handle a video/audio conversation for the duration of the scheduled lesson time. Any disruption in connectivity could hinder the learning process and cause discouragement during the lesson.
Also, please make sure that there will be little to no disruptions in the space where the lesson will be held.
Most of my experience has been teaching face-to-face in a private setting. Translating this over through streaming devices will present challenges for the student, no doubt, as well as the teacher. Please be patient and open minded when working through your lessons. Since there is a much more limited sensory intake on both the student and teacher’s end, the communication style will perhaps change to a more verbal medium. Or, lessons may take on a “show and tell” type of style. It all really depends on the skills and desires of the student, but trust that I will make sure that during all of your lesson time you will feel heard, validated, and positively challenged. I believe in the natural power that every person has to create and enjoy music.
During the current health pandemic, please take note that my cancellation policy will be suspended until the end of April 2020. Do not try to accomplish a lesson if you're sick. This counts for online lessons as well. Please just let me know when you can and get better soon.
It’s so important for us all to remain calm, patient, and kind during these trying times. Thank you so much for your time and understanding. Because of people like you, I am able to create this website and do exactly what I love to do in new and exciting ways: teach music.
As always, please feel free to reach out any time with questions or comments!
Sincerely,
JD Thomas Thomas
